Paul Eastham is a pianist, composer, singer / songwriter and frontman of a touring rock band. Originally from Stockport, UK and born in July 1981, Paul has a classical piano background with a very prestigious musical lineage. Paul was taught by Howard Morgan who himself was educated in music by the renowned Hungarian pianist, Louis Kentner. During his early teens Paul gave recitals of Rachmaninov, Chopin and many other classical greats but abandoned his career as a concert pianist at the age of 18 to pursue song writing and composing. This led to many experiences including becoming a producer of music and working with artists such as Duffy and Writing songs for rock legends like Kevin Godley of 10cc. Paul has written songs with many writers incuding Winston Sela and Nashville country greats such as Anthony Smith.
Paul comes from a widely musical family with both parents playing in bands as well as his late mancuanian grandfather playing drums for artist's such as Duke Ellignton.
Paul comes from a family of both English and Scottish roots. Paul's great grandfather, the Stockport historian Herbert Morton, was a descent of the Clan Douglass. This might explain the ‘celtic’ lilt that runs thematically through Paul's music, as well as spending part of his childhood growing up in the western isles of Scotland where his mother and grandmother now rest.
During the summer of 2007, Paul formed a Celtic/industrial-esq rock band called ‘Coast’. This was the beginning of his career in playing on international stages and sharing the bill and support concerts with artists such as Bryan Adams, Paul Brady, The Kaiser Chiefs, Arlo Guthrie, Runrig, Procol Harum, The Levellers, Seth Lakeman and Danish artists such as Mads Langer, Rasmuss seebach, The minds of 99, D.A.D, Alphabeat and many many more across Europe.
Paul has put Coast on. hold for now while persuing other musical avenues such as the ‘Paul Eastham & finlay Wells’ duo. Paul and Finlay have played all over Germany, Denmark and Scotland as well as USA. This is also a recoreding project with new releases in the workings.
Paul Eastham is officially endorsed by Elixir guitar strings.
